SOULMATE: LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP (ENGLISH VERSION)

Soulmate

We use the word soulmate for friendship and romance. Although the term can be used more universally, for example: you still can use it to call your cousin or colleague, the most common form of practice is for referring to best friends and lover.

One mourning moment happened in October 2015 encouraged me to figure out why the word is mostly used to define people who happen to share friendship and romance with us. Perhaps my thought is neither historical nor logical, and many of you may disagree. Yet, I’m certain that you will admit that it is still realistic.

I don’t even remember the date or day. One evening on a day in that October, one of my seven best friends named Furqon called me and told me that his daddy had just passed away. I was speechless by then, didn’t know what to say (as same as one scene in Sex and the City film series, when Carrie Bradshaw was being phoned by her best friend, Miranda, whose mom had just passed away). The words finally went out from my mouth was just, “Let’s just meet up the next day and you can tell me everything. And if you need to share, just call or text me, day or night, I’ll be right here for you….”

After the phone moment, I spent time thinking…. Thinking of life, thinking of Furqon, thinking of our friendship….

2015 is one of best years for him. Too bad, that sad moment happened. It was unavoidable, indeed.

Two days after he called me, we hanged out at Griya Store and McDonalds near my home. We chatted and shared a lot. He had felt better that time.

Have you noticed about this? Through those moments, I eventually realized that in life, people who will stand by us until the end of time are best friends and lover. They are ones who will always be with us until the very last breath.

Of course, people in our lives are not only them. We have parents, siblings, cousins, relatives, colleagues, fans, and other friends. Perhaps my thought is not the absolute case, but at least, commonly happens.

Our parents are much much older than us. In the end, they will precede us to leave this world. If you become a parent and have children, someday they will be “separate” from you and build their own world.

Siblings or cousins can be ones among the closest in our lives. Yet, it’s really common to see that people prefer to be much closer to their best friends than to siblings or cousins.

Colleagues or fans are also precious parts of our lives. But, they are not the closest. Friends are always with us, but often friends come and go.

Then, there left these people. Best friends and lover, ones who truly know us until the deepest secrets or the wildest acts, unconditionally accept and love us the way we are, no matter what. Together with them, we venture the amazing adventure of life and survive through every up and down.

Now, grab your cell phone and share a little love and cheers through words to all your best friends, make them now that you will never leave them. And, make sure that you choose the right one for your romance. In my opinion, the right one means connecting you through words. With him / her, you will never run out of idea to talk and always enjoyably chat with each other, share everything without hiding anything, and laugh out loud.

So, maybe this is why soulmate is the global special word for describing friendship and romance…..
